What to pack for Croatia in August
August on the Croatian coast is peak summer. It is hot, dry and sunny, the Adriatic is warm and very clear, and the old towns of Dubrovnik and Split are at their busiest. Rain is rare, but a summer storm occasionally rolls in off the sea.
So the list is mostly swimwear and light summer clothes, with a few important details. Most beaches are pebble or rock rather than sand, so water shoes are close to essential. And the old towns have rules against walking around in swimwear, so keep a cover-up in your bag between the beach and lunch.

Gear worth the space
Water shoes
Light, quick-drying and grippy on wet rock and pebbles. You will wear them every day.
A snorkel mask
The Adriatic is clear enough to see the bottom from the boat. A mask of your own fits better than a rental.
A quick-dry towel
Packs small, dries between beaches and weighs a fraction of a cotton one.
A dry bag
Boat days and island hopping mean spray and wet decks. Keep your phone and passport inside.
Pebble beaches, and old towns that frown on swimwear. Packlier packs your dates for both, in one bag.
