What to pack for Morocco in April
April is one of the best months to visit Morocco. Marrakesh is warm and sunny, the Atlas Mountains still have snow on the peaks, and the desert has not yet reached its summer heat. The range is the challenge: an 80°F afternoon in the medina can be followed by a night in the Sahara that drops into the 40s.
So the list is built from loose, breathable layers that cover your shoulders and knees. Morocco is a Muslim country, and modest dress is respectful in the medinas and the countryside, not only at religious sites. It also keeps the sun and dust off. Pack one real warm layer for the desert and the mountains.

Gear worth the space
A large, light scarf
The most useful thing in the bag: sunshade, dust mask, shoulder cover, and a blanket on a chilly night.
Loose linen pants
Cool in the heat, modest without effort, and quick to dry after washing in a hotel sink.
A packable fleece
Light enough to forget until you need it at the desert camp or on the mountain road.
A zip-top crossbody bag
Worn in front of you in the crowded souks, with small notes in an outside pocket so you never open it wide to pay.
An 80°F afternoon in the medina, a Sahara night in the 40s. Packlier packs one modest capsule for the whole range.
